Short answer
The Gemini Credit Card XRP Edition is the regular Gemini Credit Card with an XRP-branded design. It earns up to 4% back in crypto, has no annual fee, and is issued by WebBank on Mastercard World Elite. Gemini’s own XRP page says the card “functionality remains the same” as its other cards. You can take your rewards in XRP, but you can also pick bitcoin or 50+ other cryptos and switch at any time.
It is open only to residents of the 50 U.S. states and Puerto Rico. It is not available in Canada, the UK or Australia.
Gemini Credit Card XRP rewards table
| Category | Reward rate | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Gas at the pump, EV charging, transit, taxis, rideshare | 4% | Capped at $300 spend per month, then 1% for the rest of that month |
| Dining | 3% | Restaurants, bars and fast food |
| Groceries | 2% | Excludes Costco, Sam’s Club, Walmart, candy stores, bakeries |
| Everything else | 1% | All other qualifying purchases |
| Select partner merchants | Up to 10% | Limited-time offers with monthly spend limits |
Source: Gemini support and XRP pages. Older third-party listings show a $200 monthly cap on the 4% tier; current Gemini pages say $300, so we use $300.
Real results: 13 months with the XRP card
Our tester used their own Gemini card with rewards set to XRP the whole time. Figures are rounded.
- XRP earned: about 600 XRP in 13 months, or about 46 XRP a month
- Typical spend: roughly $1,600 to $2,500 a month, about $21,000 to $33,000 in total
- XRP earned per $100 spent: roughly 1.8 to 2.9 XRP
At today’s price, 600 XRP is worth about $800 (XRP at $1.32 on CoinGecko, October 22, 2026). That is today’s value, not what the rewards were worth when they were earned. The effective rate in dollars depends on XRP’s price on each day a reward was credited, and on how much of the spending fell in the 4% gas, 3% dining and 2% grocery categories. One person’s results; yours will differ.
How the Gemini XRP credit card works
You spend U.S. dollars and pay your bill in dollars. Gemini pays your reward in crypto, which is deposited in your Gemini Exchange account. From there you can hold it, sell it, or, if you meet Gemini’s criteria, move it off the exchange. If you sell, you can send the dollars to a verified bank account.
For most purchases the reward is “instant”, meaning within minutes. Some online merchants, hotels, gas stations and car rental companies pay only after the transaction posts, which Gemini says normally takes 24 to 72 hours. A pre-authorization hold earns nothing until the final amount posts.
Why you might earn 1% instead of more
Gemini assigns rates by the merchant’s category code (MCC), which comes from the merchant’s payment processor, not Gemini. If a store is not coded as grocery, dining or gas, it earns 1%. Gemini’s examples:
- Costco, Sam’s Club, Walmart and Target often earn only 1%. Our own test charge at a Walmart Supercenter on October 21, 2026 posted at 2%, because the rate follows the store’s merchant category code, so results can vary by store.
- Delivery services such as Uber Eats may not count as restaurants.
- Gas bought inside the store, not at the pump, does not get 4%.
- Gift cards, prepaid cards, cash equivalents, lottery tickets and crypto purchases earn nothing.
Before you count on 3% or 4%, see which stores cardholders report earning just 1%, and why.
What does that look like in XRP?
Gemini’s XRP page shows a $75 gas fill-up paying .972 XRP, $200 of groceries paying 1.29 XRP, and a $300 dinner paying 2.91 XRP. These use prices from August 18, 2025, and Gemini calls them illustrative. They are over a year old, so do not use them to predict today’s rewards. The value of your reward depends on the XRP price when you earn it and when you sell it.
How to choose XRP as your reward
You pick your reward crypto during the application. If you pick nothing, Gemini says the default is Bitcoin. The XRP design is a card look, so do not assume choosing it sets your rewards to XRP. One third-party review says it does, but Gemini’s page says otherwise, and we could not settle it. Pick XRP on purpose, then check your setting.
To change it later, log in and select “Change rewards”. New purchases earn the new crypto. Pending purchases earn what you had selected when you bought, and rewards already earned do not change.
How to apply for the Gemini XRP credit card
- Start on Gemini’s XRP card page. You need a Gemini Exchange account. If you have none, Gemini runs both applications together.
- Check if you are pre-qualified. This does not affect your credit score. If you continue, Gemini, on behalf of WebBank, makes a hard inquiry, which can affect your score.
- Choose your reward crypto. Pick XRP if that is what you want.
- Wait for the decision. Gemini says online applications usually get an answer within 60 seconds, though it sometimes needs more information.
- Once approved, choose a design. Gemini lists seven options: black, silver, rose gold, and special editions for BTC, XRP, SOL and ZEC.
- Add the digital card to Apple Pay, Google Pay or Samsung Pay while the metal card ships.
What credit score do you need?
Gemini does not publish a minimum score, and we could not verify an official number. CNET once quoted a Gemini product lead saying applicants need at least a “prime” score, which usually means about 670. That article is likely several years old, and other sites repeat 670 without a source. Treat it as a rough guide. The APR you get also depends on your creditworthiness.
Where is my card?
Gemini says your card should arrive within 5 to 7 days of approval. It is mailed only to the address on your application. If you already have an account, you can update the address in card settings. Gemini says the card is metal and the number is not printed on it; you find the number in your Gemini account.
Availability by country

Gemini says the card is for residents of all 50 U.S. states and Puerto Rico, and “will not be available outside of the U.S.”
| Country | Can you get the card? | What we found |
|---|---|---|
| United States and Puerto Rico | Yes | Terms apply |
| Canada | No | No Canadian version found. Whether the Gemini exchange serves Canada today: unknown |
| United Kingdom | No | Gemini closed all UK customer accounts on April 6, 2026 |
| Australia | No | Gemini closed all Australian customer accounts on April 6, 2026 |
The card needs a Gemini account, so the UK and Australia are closed twice over.
Fees and APR
| Item | Amount |
|---|---|
| Annual fee | $0 |
| Foreign transaction fee | None |
| Purchase APR | 18.49% to 34.49% variable, set by creditworthiness |
| Cash advance | APR 29.49%, plus $10 or 3%, whichever is greater |
| Penalty APR | 33.49% |
| Late or returned payment | Up to $35 |
These figures are from Gemini’s rates document dated April 1, 2026, which cites a December 2025 Prime Rate. Your rate may differ today. One third-party directory lists a 16.49% low end, but the issuer document says 18.49%. No intro APR is listed. Interest on purchases is not charged if you pay the full balance by the due date. Read the current terms before applying.
Is the Gemini XRP credit card worth it?
In its favor
- No annual fee and no foreign transaction fee.
- 4% on gas, EV charging and rideshare, 3% on dining and 2% on groceries beat a flat 1% to 2% card, within the caps and when the merchant is coded correctly.
- Most rewards arrive within minutes, in the crypto you choose.
Reasons to think twice
- The XRP Edition is a design. It pays no more than any other Gemini card.
- The 4% tier stops at $300 a month, and big-box stores often earn 1%.
- The APR is high. If you carry a balance, interest will likely outweigh the rewards.
- Rewards are crypto and can lose value. Gemini says XRP rewards earned from October 2021 to July 2024 and held to July 27, 2025 appreciated 452.9% on average. That is Gemini’s own analysis of one period, over a year old, and Gemini notes past performance does not predict results.
- No welcome bonus. Some launch coverage in August 2025 mentioned a $200 XRP bonus, but Gemini’s card and XRP pages showed no welcome bonus when we checked on October 22, 2026. They list only a referral program: $50 in crypto per referral, plus $250 for every 5 referrals, up to 50 referrals a year.
Our take: if you spend on gas, dining and groceries, pay in full, and want XRP, the card does what it says. If you only want the best rate, the design does not change the deal. See how it stacks up against other crypto cashback cards on rates and fees.
FAQ
Is the Gemini XRP credit card legit?
Gemini announced it on its own blog on August 25, 2025, in collaboration with Ripple. It is issued by WebBank, and Gemini publishes its rates in a cardholder agreement.
Is the Gemini XRP credit card good?
It is a solid no-annual-fee crypto card for people who use the gas, dining and grocery categories and pay in full. Choosing XRP does not raise your rate.
How do I earn XRP with the Gemini credit card?
Choose XRP as your reward when you apply, or select “Change rewards” later. Qualifying purchases then earn XRP, mostly within minutes.
What are the Gemini XRP credit card benefits?
Up to 4% back, no annual fee, no foreign transaction fee, no fee to receive rewards, Mastercard World Elite, up to 10% at select merchants, mobile wallet support, and up to 5 authorized users.
What credit limit will I get?
Gemini does not publish a range. Its application help page says applicants can choose “Up to $5,000 credit limit, Additional income verification needed” and share income data through Plaid to be considered for a higher limit; this is optional and not guaranteed. Reddit users report anything from about $1,000 to about $20,000, and some say increase requests were denied. Those are anecdotes. Our credit limit guide has the median starting limit from 33 cardholder reports.
Are crypto card rewards taxable?
It depends on your situation, and this site does not give tax advice. Start with why rewards are usually not taxed when you earn them, but can be when you sell.
