Short answer
Gemini credit card requirements, as Gemini publishes them, are mostly about who can apply and what must clear — not a public FICO cutoff. Official Support language covers U.S. residency (50 states; not available outside the U.S.), a Gemini Exchange account, identity verification, an unfrozen Experian + Clarity file, and WebBank underwriting after you leave the soft eligibility check (Gemini Support: Product Overview; Application Process).
- No official minimum credit score appears on the Application Process FAQ, Product Overview, or main marketing page we checked.
- 670–850 / “Good to Excellent” / “690+” numbers you see elsewhere are third-party or AI-overview recommendations — not Gemini policy.
- Soft pre-qualify first does not hurt your score; a full application is a hard inquiry via Gemini on behalf of WebBank.
- No appeal if you are declined.
This checklist separates official gemini credit card requirements from review-site score bands, then points you to soft pre-qualify and starting-limit research in this cluster.
Gemini credit card requirements checklist (official)
| Requirement | What Gemini says | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| U.S. residency | Residents of all 50 U.S. states may apply (terms and restrictions apply); card not available outside the U.S. | Product Overview: 50 states only. XRP edition FAQ also names Puerto Rico. D.C. and other territories are not named on card Support/marketing eligibility lines we verified (Exchange AOA is separate). |
| Age | No “must be 18” sentence on Product Overview / Application Process. Gemini Support says you must be at least 18 to register for a Gemini account; card approval requires Exchange approval. | WebBank Cardholder Agreement also requires Authorized Users to be at least 18. Treat 18+ as official via the Exchange gate, not a standalone card FAQ line. |
| Issuer / network | Issued by WebBank; Mastercard network | WebBank underwrites credit; Gemini markets and services the product. |
| Gemini Exchange account | Card approval requires Exchange approval. If you lack an Exchange account, Gemini runs both processes when you apply for the card. | Rewards land in the Exchange account. |
| Identity verification | If Gemini cannot verify identity from its sources, Support says it cannot approve under regulatory requirements. | Separate from credit underwriting. Card Application Process still lists no ID types; Exchange verification Support lists U.S. photo-ID options (state ID, driver’s license, passport/passport card, Green Card) plus biometric selfie — relevant because card approval requires Exchange approval. |
| Credit freezes | Unfreeze both Experian and Clarity or the application will not continue. | Clarity’s freeze portal is separate from Experian’s. |
| Eligibility check → full app | Soft pre-qualify / eligibility check = no score impact. Continuing to a full application = hard inquiry. | Pre-qualified ≠ approved. Details: Gemini credit card pre approval. |
| Minimum credit score | Not published by Gemini on the Support/marketing pages checked. | Bankrate’s “recommended” 670–850 band is editorial only. |
| Plaid income share | Optional path for a higher limit offer; opting out “will not negatively impact your eligibility.” | Higher limit not guaranteed. |
| Appeals | No appeal process | FAQ describes pre-qualifying again (soft); a later full app is another hard pull. |
Who can apply: residency and issuer
Product Overview: residents in all 50 U.S. states are eligible to apply (terms and restrictions apply), and the Gemini Credit Card is not available outside the U.S. The issuer is WebBank; Mastercard is the network partner (Product Overview).
On residency nuance (re-checked October 28, 2026, America/Chicago): Support Product Overview still says 50 U.S. states and not available outside the U.S. Gemini’s XRP edition FAQ uses the same structure but adds Puerto Rico. We do not treat D.C. or other territories as confirmed card-eligible from Product Overview or that FAQ — Gemini Exchange “areas of availability” listing D.C./PR/GU is Exchange licensing language, not the card’s who-can-apply line.
On age: Product Overview / Application Process still omit an explicit “card applicants must be 18” sentence. Official Support does require age 18+ to register for a Gemini account (age restriction to register), and Application Process requires Exchange approval for card approval — so 18+ is the practical official floor via that gate. WebBank’s Cardholder Agreement also requires Authorized Users to be at least 18.
Gemini Exchange account requirement
Support is unambiguous: you must be approved for a Gemini Exchange account to be approved for the card. If you do not already have Exchange, Gemini runs the card and Exchange processes together when you apply (Application Process). Crypto rewards are deposited to that Exchange account.
Identity verification
Under “failure to identify,” Support says it uses several sources to verify identification and cannot approve if verification fails, citing regulatory requirements. That is framed as an identity gate, not a score gate. The Credit Card Application Process FAQ still does not enumerate acceptable document types.
Because card approval requires a Gemini Exchange account, Exchange verification docs matter. Gemini Support’s verification article lists, for U.S. residents: a valid government-issued photo ID — state-issued ID, driver’s license, passport or passport card, or Permanent Resident Card (Green Card) — plus a biometric face scan / selfie; expired IDs are not accepted (What documents are required for your verification?). Forum posts sometimes describe identity denials as “never apply again”; that conflicts with Support’s soft re-prequalify path — we keep both labels and do not invent a resolution (see pre approval guide).
Credit check: soft eligibility then hard pull
Meeting gemini credit card requirements still means surviving underwriting. Gemini lets you check eligibility / pre-qualify with no impact on your credit score. If you continue, Gemini on behalf of WebBank makes a hard inquiry for the final decision. Pre-qualified means you are “likely” to be approved — not guaranteed. For the full soft→hard map, CTA wording, and freeze walkthrough, use our live Gemini credit card pre approval spoke rather than duplicating it here.
Credit freezes: Experian and Clarity
If Gemini says your credit file is frozen, Support requires unfreezing both:
- Experian — 1-888-397-3742 or usa.experian.com/member/security-freeze
- Clarity — 1-866-390-3118 or consumers.clarityservices.com/securityFreeze
Then sign back into the Gemini app to continue. Leaving either freeze in place is a hard blocker even if every other requirement looks fine.
Is there a minimum credit score?
Gemini does not publish one on the Application Process FAQ, Product Overview, or main credit-card page (checked October 28, 2026).
What third parties say (labeled, not official):
- Bankrate lists a recommended credit score band of roughly 670–850 (Good to Excellent) in its Gemini review — Bankrate’s recommendation, not a Gemini cutoff (Bankrate review).
- Google AI Overviews and YouTube often repeat ~690+ as if it were policy. That is synthesis or creator content, not Support text.
Approval depends on WebBank’s full review (credit history, income, obligations, identity, Exchange status, and more). We do not invent approval odds.
Optional: Plaid for a higher limit offer
Plaid income verification is not a basic eligibility requirement. Support’s UI strings: select “Up to $5,000 credit limit, Additional income verification needed” to share income via Plaid Check, or continue with “$ credit limit, No additional income verification needed” (dollar amount shown in-app). Sharing is optional; opting out “will not negatively impact your eligibility for a Gemini Credit Card,” but a higher limit is not guaranteed.
Personal vs. business requirements
This page is about the personal Gemini Credit Card. The Business Card has its own eligibility framing (for example sole prop / SMLLC language on Gemini’s business product materials). See our Gemini Business Credit Card review for product positioning. This article does not claim the Business Card uses the same pre-qualify flow or the same WebBank underwriting rules as the personal card.
What applicants report (self-reported, not odds)
Public r/Gemini threads skew toward problems:
- People push the pre-qualify tool first instead of a cold hard application.
- Some denials are framed as identity failures, not score.
- At least one applicant blamed high utilization despite a high score.
- Score-to-limit anecdotes vary widely — useful for curiosity, not for a requirements floor. Starting limits belong on our credit limit spoke (median $2,000 in that self-reported sample).
Sources (checked October 28, 2026): credit score before applying; score / identity / utilization thread.
After you meet the requirements
If you pass soft check and are approved after the hard pull, next reads in this silo:
- Gemini credit card pre approval — soft vs hard, freezes, Plaid UI strings.
- Gemini Credit Card credit limit — 33 self-reported starting limits.
- Business Card review hub — personal vs business product comparison (not identical underwriting).

FAQ
What are the Gemini credit card requirements?
Officially: U.S. residency in the 50 states (Product Overview; not available outside the U.S.; XRP FAQ also names Puerto Rico), age 18+ via the Gemini Exchange registration rule (card requires Exchange), WebBank/Mastercard issuance context, identity verification (Exchange photo-ID list when docs are needed), unfrozen Experian + Clarity, and surviving soft eligibility then hard underwriting. No published score floor. D.C./other territories remain unnamed on card who-can-apply lines we verified.
Do I need a minimum credit score?
Gemini does not publish one. Bankrate’s 670–850 “recommended” band is editorial only.
Do I need a Gemini account first?
You need Exchange approval for card approval. If you do not have Exchange yet, Gemini runs both processes when you apply for the card.
Will checking eligibility hurt my credit?
The soft pre-qualify / eligibility check does not, per Gemini. A full application after you continue is a hard inquiry.
What if my credit is frozen?
Unfreeze Experian and Clarity, then continue in the Gemini app.
Is Plaid required?
No. It is optional for a higher limit offer and does not negatively impact eligibility if you skip it (higher limit still not guaranteed).
Can I appeal a denial?
No. Support says there is no appeal process.
Are business card requirements the same?
Do not assume that. Use the business review hub for that product’s eligibility framing; this page covers the personal card only.
Does Gemini require me to be 18?
Yes in practice via the Exchange gate: Gemini Support requires you to be at least 18 to register for a Gemini account, and card approval requires Exchange approval. Product Overview / Application Process do not restate “18+” as a standalone card FAQ line. The WebBank Cardholder Agreement also requires Authorized Users to be at least 18.
Where should I start?
Confirm residency and freeze status, then use Gemini’s own soft eligibility flow. Our pre approval guide walks that path.
